Feminine Protection Usage

What was the first type of feminine protection you used - pads, tampons, menstrual cup? Do you still use the same feminine protection, or did you switch completely - when, why?

Still juggling methods

Like many others, I started out with a pad. I was unlucky, though - I had a dance class immediately after school that day, and I had to learn how to insert a tampon very quickly so nothing would show under my leotard. It's still pretty stressful, especially quick changes. Until now, I've stuck to pads most of the time and tampons at dance.

But I'm still experimenting with what's best for me. My second day always seems to be very heavy, and I'll be at heavily-supervised work experience with a male supervisor, so I'll probably try a tampon and a pad to stretch out the time I can go without changing. Wish me luck!

Another cup lover

The first kind I used was pads, because I was 11 and just used whatever my mom gave me. I remember a few years later using tampons because I had my period when I was supposed to have swimming lessons. Just in this last year, I've switched to menstrual cups and I will never go back to commercial products. I feel so much cleaner and healthier using this product. When I got my IUD inserted I purchased cloth pads to use until it settles in but as soon as I get the OK from my doctor, I'm going back to the cup. I highly recommend it!

Cloth, all the way.

I started out using pads. My mom tried to convince me to use tampons because she loved them so much. I could never figure out how to get them in correctly, and so they were extremely uncomfortable. (I still can't figure out how to get them to work right.) I switched back to pads and used them for years.
A few months ago, I switched to cloth pads, and I love them. I can't even tell that I'm wearing them; they're so much more comfortable. It's not a big deal to wash them, either. I have a ceramic jar I place in the bathroom, and when it's time for my period, I fill it with water and soak the used pads. I'll never go back to disposable again!

Wow I made it

My first period was 9/10 and used the pad with no strip to take off to apply. I was in lower grade and was told by mother to be ready since every woman in our family start early and I did lord it was heavy too. I did like using the pad but it slipped and had to have a garter to hold it in place. as I got older i looked into tampons but felt scared they would get lost or be messy but once I ask my mother at 13 she said yes, but I still had to wear a pad for having a heavy flow. I still this day at 33 flip back and forth between pads and tampons and they have come a long way baby

First and continued feminine protection

Like many girls, my first feminine protection was a pad. My first period started while I was at school and pads were all that were sold in the vending machine.

I continue to usually use pads most of the time, except that I will use a disposible menstrual cup for swimming and romantic times during myperiod.

pads & tampons

i started out with a pad. i went with pads for 7 years.. it was really messy. i knew about tampons when i was in 8th grade. a family friend who's older then me told me about it. she gave me one and told me how to use it but i was really scared to use it so i didn't. i even told my older sister about it. then 2 years ago she started out with tampons, then 3 months ago i finally got the courage to use it & i love it! but i do still use a pad on the last 2 days because i don't want to use a tampon when i'm not that heavy, but i can't use the pantyliner since it doesn't help me.
