So confused by these symptoms???

My husband and I have been TTC for 3 months now. We used the ovulation calendar to try and time it right- busy on each predicted fertile day. My periods are normally regular. My last cycle lasted 26 days, leaving my period due this month 3 days ago. All week I have felt as though my period was coming. I have had slight cramping and very light spotting only on my toilet paper. I took a HPT this morning and it was a BFN. :( Any suggestions??
