I used the Alesse pill for 3 years, but switched to the Desogen pill when I began having breakthrough bleeding with Alesse. I got off of Desogen this past May after 2 years of use b/c I was ttc with my husband. I had a m/c in October and since then decided that I will NOT take anymore hormones for birth control (I haven't told my husband this). I recently got fitted for a diaphragm (spelling?) and intend to use that for pregnancy prevention until I am ready to ttc again. I will probably continue to use this or the withdrawal method after I (prayerfully) have a child.
