SAHM or Working Mom?

Did you (or will you) stop working and be a Stay at Home Mom (SAHM)? Why or why not? Any regrets in your decision, like do you find yourself wanting to go back to work, or in the middle of a meeting do you wish you were home instead? What would you tell other mom-to-bes who are considering being a SAHM - do it or not?

SAHM or Working Mom?

Working momma

I have two children that are 3 and 15 months. When my youngest was about 6-7 months old I had to go back to work. It's hard sometimes but currently we have no other choice if we want money, health insurance and a retirement plan. My husband owns his own business so he has no benefits. It definitly makes me appreciate my family more though by being away from them.

SAHM or Working Mom?

A Moms View

I become a SAHM way before the twins were born. Since I was high risk, I was going to the doctors every two weeks and what employer can work around that?? It worked out perfectly since I ended up delivering @ 31 weeks. I have a small business selling jewelry on the internet, so that helps with some money coming in. I enjoy being a SAHM and I don't want to go back to work once the twins get old enough to go to school...which will be in a few short years.

I would tell other mom-to-bes that if you can afford to become a SAHM or even a WAHM, it is a Blessing. I know I admire those moms that work outside of the home. But I also admire those moms that can stay home...after all being a SAHM is a Full-time job. We don't just sit around drinking JD, eating Bon Bons and getting our nails done every day. :)

Kuddos to those SAHM, WAHM, or working moms outside the home. Just being a Mom and loving your children and doing what is best for them is what is important!!!

Take care,
God Bless,
Julie D

SAHM or Working Mom?

home or work?!

my husband and i are hoping we are lucky enough to be blessed with kids soon hence me stumbling upon this site but i run my own business as a dog groomer and i'm not able to have someone else stand in for me so if i'm off the salon is closed so i wont be able to stay at home, i have no problem with this as firstly i worked long and hard for my business and secondly i would not be happy at home aall day in return i feel my kids would suffer i am lucky enough to choose my own hours so i will be able to either work shorter days or a day or 2 less in the week. this way i getthe need i have for work life and my kids will get to spend time with a happy mum not a depressed frustrated one! i take my hat off to those who do stay at home with their kids its a tough job and i know i couldnt do it all the time!

SAHM or Working Mom?

sahm

im not going to have a choice in this one... my partner lives 3000miles away, and although we are "together," i have to graduate college before we move over to be with him, and THEN I can become a SAHM, which i will definatly be doing. until then, it will be day care for my baby, once he/she is born... or at best, my grandparents will help, my own parents both work full time. oh well,it'l all work itself out, and i have a great partner, but his job just wont let him relocate... hopefully, provided i dont go early, he'l be here for the birth, but he'l definately be here for the 4 weeks after...

SAHM or Working Mom?

Sometimes we can have it all

I was a single mom for 8 years. I worked my butt off. My daughter was in daycare for many hours a day. Most the time my mom would pick her up, feed her and I would put her to bed. When she was 8 I married a man who wanted me to stay home. Didn't take a lot of arm twisting. Anyway, we had 2 more children and stayed home for 11 years. Now, I have re-entered the work force. I'm in police work, which means I work some pretty weird hours. My husband owns his own business. Between the two of us, we take and pick up our kids from school and they are never in daycare. From time to time they go home with one of my trusted friends. Because of this, I feel absolutely not guilt loving my job. I work mostly midnights, so I'm there when they get up in the morning, get home from school, do school parties, field trips.....Sleep, what's that?

SAHM or Working Mom?

SAHM and loving it!

Both my parents were work-a-holics and I grew up as a latchkey kid, I don't want that for my children... I am a SAHM and love it! I love the amount of time that I get to spend with my son and husband, we are planning to homeschool our children, and that does take a lot of face time, at least for little ones.... I am planning to start working part time from home doing legal transcription, so I can earn a few extra bucks... but I believe the most important work a person can do is inside the walls of their home, the home is the last place of refuge from the world! I need to be there to make sure mine stays that way.
