No Periods, Less Periods

Period suppression is currently a very hot topic. Will you (or do you already) take prescription meds to stop your period, or to have less periods a year? Why or why not?

You use tylenol for a headache why not for your period...

I have had trouble with my periods all my life. They have gotten heavier since having children. I have very bad pmdd and have since realized that I should not have to deal with this. I have been on almost every birth control possible. I have had an IUD and it didn't work either. I have tried the menstrual cup and other alternative menstral protection with no sucess. My periods are so heavy that i have to use an adult diaper at night otherwise I will not make it till morning. COMPLETE MISERY! I have been on the birth control pill that you just skip the placebo pills and keep taking and it was pretty good, however, with the other problems i was having i had a lot of break through bleeding. I have now started taking a mood stabilizing anti-depressant for my pmdd, which helps some and I am getting the endometrial ablation. I am excited to get this managed! We manage our headaches with tylenol, depression with anti-depressants, and men even get to manage their libido with viagra... Why don't we deserve relief. Why suck it up and suffer if we don't have to. If you're in pain you go to the cabinet and get medicine. As long as it is proved safe... what are you waiting for! Do some research yourself.

Where does all of it go then?

so if you take the pill and dont have your period, where does all that stuff go? even though i wish i didnt have to go through pms, i dont think its to healthy to not have one, i mean, your body obviously needs to flush out every month.

It's Cheaper to Keep 'Em......

Even though my monthly cycles are horrid...with all bloating, migraines, water gain, anemia, and cramps, I would rather have them monthly. It is not natural to suppress to stop the shedding of the uterine lining. When I was younger, I would have jumped on the bandwagon but as I have gotten wiser as I have aged, I say "if it ain't broke, don't try to fix it". I'm not going to try to stop what comes natural. I tried the Depo shot a few years back. I thought I would like it but every month I had panic attacks, wondering if I was pregnant--although I wasn't and had even more side effects with the shot than with my monthly cycle. That wasn't fun at all!

It is natural

I believe that that there is a reason why God choose that women shed their uterine lining. I dont need that bad blood in my body. It is natural, and that is the way I want my body to be.

Freedom from Flo? Yes, please!

I have rheumatoid arthritis which, if you're unfamiliar with it, is auto-immune connective tissue disease. Rather than attacking infection like a healthy immune system would, mine attacks healthy tissue. RA can be crippling and in some cases it can attack the heart and lungs. The medications have so many side affects that I gained 50 pounds in the first three months and have been unable to regulate my period for two years. I'm so aenemic that I spend the days when I'm on my period too exhausted to get out of bed. The sudden drop in seratonin levels causes me blinding migraines. I have known since I was 11 years old that I didn't want children (I'm 30 now) and my illness is so severe that I couldn't physically handle raising them. Would I take a pill to completely eliminate my period and all that comes with it? Absolutely!

Keeping My Periods

I would not. Our bodies were designed to sloff off our uterine lining when it wasn't supporting a pregnancy. I prefer to know month to month that my body is working perfectly fine.
