No Periods, Less Periods

Period suppression is currently a very hot topic. Will you (or do you already) take prescription meds to stop your period, or to have less periods a year? Why or why not?

No Periods, Less Periods

NO MORE PERIODS YEAH!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe this is a personal issue. I started my period when I was 10, on Christmas Day, Merry Christmas. I'm 47 now. My periods are getting worse as I get older. I've heard the average women loses about 14tsp through her whole period. I lose that much in the first 5 min. The gyno I was going to kept telling me this is normal for me. I fired him and found a new gyno. I'm scheduled to have an ablation and a tubal. I really hope this works. I go through so much pain and embarrassment every month. I've even blood so heavy I got anemia. So absolutely, I will do whatever I have to make this stop. I finished having children and this looks like the best course of treatment for me.

No Periods, Less Periods

NOT IN A MILLION YEARS

Nope, we have a period for a reason, it's nature, why mess with that. Some of my frineds wer eond drugs like that, where they're AF wasn't that long three days or less, and when they stopped taking to get pg, they had so many complications. I bet that after all of the hype of it has gone away, they're going to start noticing problems. Our body has to go through things for a reason, it's just the way it should be. I would never take anything like that, I don't even take BC pills, because I'm just so afraid that something isn't right with them. That was fine for me, seeing as how I didn't become sexually active until about six months ago (my wedding night) I know not everyone is not like me and I don't expect them to be, but to acutally take a medication to stop your period.. there is just something wrong with that, is sex that important to people that they just can't wait it out... Why would someone even want to stop it? It's just odd.

Don't mess with nature - possible risks not worth it

Absolutely not. There is absolutely no reason for it. Women have a period for a reason; it's nature. It's like trying to make it rain/snow fewer or more times throughout the year. It's nature, let it do it's thing.

The cycle is what keeps the human race going. There may not appear to be any long term side effects of these prescriptions, but we don't know for sure. It may not happen to me or to you, but it may effect my child, your child, our child's child.

These drugs may eventually make women stop having periods full stop.

It's a period. It's nature. We have to deal with it. Women have been having periods since the beginning of time. Sure, sometimes periods can be very painful and disruptive, but with all the technology and science out there, if they can come up with something to stop your period like that, I'm sure they can come up with something to ease up symptoms.

It's just not worth the possible long term effects.

No Periods, Less Periods

No

no I wont - periods are a part of nature and in my views some parts of nature should not be messed with. So no matter how painful or bad the pmt/pms is I wouldn't do it
