Birth Control Pill Problems

I've had nothing but problems with contraception. Originally put on OCP to regulate unruly periods, then about 10 yrs ago started to get spotting in between periods on almost a daily basis. Changed brand after brand of OCP but no change. Now trying the mini pill and the break through bleeding is worse than ever after 2 months of taking it. Birth control pills are obviously not working for me but I'm not sure what else to, I'm not keen on the idea of the IUD and have tried Depo injection in the past and piled on the weight. Why is it so difficult!!!!!

Minipill = bad, so trying NFP/condoms

The minipill made me feel sad, tired, and amotivated for entire three months I tried it. I also had weird periods with random spotting, and didn't feel like sex at all (a pretty good contraceptive then!).

I can't take the combined pill because of family health history, so my partner and I are using condoms, and I'm starting to look at NFP too. Seems interesting - but looks like a a bit of work! I feel soooo much happier off the minipill though!

Tubal Ligation worked for me. LOL

I didn't like ANY form of birth control, everything either physically bothered me, or sounded creepy to me (ie IUD, Diaphrams, etc).

I went all out and had a tubal ligation after my 3rd baby was born...
The pros - I won't have any unplanned pregnancies, which is a relief.
The cons - I won't get pregnant, period. It's almost a sad feeling.
Apparently, it makes me a ball of emotions.

Mirena Birth Control Device

I have been using the Mirena device for a year and a half now and I love it...except for the cramping off and on for three weeks a month...but it is very effective...and i never have to worry about getting pregnant...my periods are lighter and I could lose it all together...(I keep praying)...some days during my period i only use pantiliners because it is so light...and we don't need to use condoms ever again...and it can be removed as soon as we decide we want another baby...You can keep it in up to 5 years or less if you decide you want another baby...and the FDA is working on changing the 5 year time limit to 7 years...so by the time my 5 years are up, I still might be able to leave it in another 2 years if the FDA approves it.

Condoms

I was on the depo for over 6 yrs i came off it in 2003, it was unavailable here for a few months so i decided to take a break as i started using it when i was 18.
We started using condoms and have no children to date. Im getting a bit fed up of them now but dont want to consider any long term options as i got married last month and would like to have a baby in a yr or so. Was thinking of the cap or diaphram but hubby is reluctant to use this as i suffer with kidney infections alot and it says this can be one of the side effects of it.
There really is no easy answer here stay with the old reliable one even though its driving me crazy as sex is not the same.
