Menstrual synchronicity is the theory that the periods of women living together become in-sync, adjusting so that each woman's period starts within a few days of each other. This phenomenon is said to be due to pherome release, which influences the ovulatory cycles of women living together. First studied by Martha McClintock of the University of Chicago in the 1970s, it's often referred to as the McClintock Effect.
