If you live in the United States, 41 States tax period products! Only 5 States in the USA have explicitly decided not to tax menstrual products: Maryland, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Minnesota and New Jersey. Four other States (Alaska, Oregon, Montana, and New Hampshire) also do not tax, as they have no product sales tax. [Source: Fusion.net]

Many countries around the world tax menstrual products as well, including the UK, Australia, France, and Italy.

Why are tampons and pads taxed? They're considered non-essential luxury items! Agreed - unbelievable!

Now the good news: due to public pressure, Canada has removed the Goods and Services Tax (GST) on feminine hygiene products, effective July 2015.
